Ian is an experienced Coach/Mentor and has worked with managers and executives in the nuclear industry since 2003, helping them to realise their potential and personal objectives. He has also worked with management teams as an Organisational Development Consultant. Ian’s intuitive coaching style is welcomed by both technical and non-technical managers.
Ian is also a trained Solutions Focus Practitioner. Solutions Focus is an approach to problem solving, a method that he believes works particularly well with technical and project teams and helps them move quickly to real progress and motivation.
A skilled facilitator, his ability to listen and empathise combined with the presence to gain rapport and give direction in group situations is a key strength. This has been enhanced through his training as a Master Practitioner of NLP.
Ian originally trained as a marine engineer and subsequently worked in shipbuilding, commissioning nuclear submarines. This led to an 18 year career in the UK nuclear industry in which he worked in project management, contract management, safety and environmental compliance regulation, development of organisational learning and senior level EH&S management.
As an internal regulator he discovered his passion for understanding people, their behaviours and how to positively motivate them.
He brings with him a wealth of experience in successfully interfacing with HSE and Environment Agency Regulators.
